Cameras in Disguise
Devices from the Permanent Collection
California Museum of Photography
January 1, 2007 - January 1, 2008
Early dry-plate cameras were often called "detective" cameras because their lack of obvious photographic features made it easy to use them without being detected. Others could be concealed, like the vest camera, or disguised as something other than a camera. These devices illustrated in the gallery are assorted examples from the UCR/CMP collection.
