Pickled to Preserve or Flavor
Culver Center of the Arts
October 3, 2006 - January 6, 2007
Opening Reception | Tuesday, October 3, 2006, 12am - 12pm |
In his exploration of American culture and its obsession with homogenization and blending mixed media, artist Jason Chakravarty employs a wide variety of materials- cast and blown glass; fabricated metals; wood, found objects and neon. His PICKLED-TO PRESERVE OR FLAVOR (2006), situated in the Culver building's deeply recessed windows, is an installation comprised of two hundred one gallon industrial food jars stacked high on industrial shelving and linked together with a one hundred feet of neon tubing.
