THE WHITE RIBBON, from acclaimed Austrian filmmaker Micheal Haneke, is a 2009 drama set in a northern German village in the years leading up to World War I. Shot in black and white, the film follows a series of mysterious accidents that take place in the village, which grow into a larger portrait of the anxieties and dark mysteries of the village and its inhabitants.
