Human Noises, a contemporary dance production, moves in unexpected directions. This piece shifts around power structures to investigate the overt and subtle ways humans confront, push up against, and maneuver around the forces that seek to constrain them. Hinging on a collaborative process between choreographer Casey Avaunt and composer Christine Lee, Human Noises creates an arena for the negotiation of power struggles in daily life. In a highly physical and emotional battle, the dancers negotiate their freedom within the site. This work includes doses of dry humor and non-traditional dance techniques that call into question aspects of our tightly held patterns.
